Central Stations for Radio Communication [PDF]

open access: greenProceedings of the IRE, 1921
There are considered the mechanism of radiation and reception in radio communication. The design of the transmitting equipment is compared with the design of the usual alternators and power plants of electrical engineering. The main problems encountered are described, and an account is given of the solutions obtained.

Reducing Waiting Times at Charging Stations with Adaptive Electric Vehicle Route Planning [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Intelligent Vehicles, 2021
Electric vehicles are becoming more popular all over the world. With increasing battery capacities and a growing fast-charging infrastructure, they are becoming suitable for long distance travel. However, queues at charging stations could lead to long waiting times, making efficient route planning even more important.

No Grand Central stations

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1996
Reflecting on the lessons of the Kobe (1995), Mexico City (1985), Northridge (1994), and Loma Prieta (1989) earthquakes, two social scientists have proposed that societies invert the traditional way information is communicated in the hours and days after a natural disaster.
