The number of saprotrophic bacteria ranged between 108 and 1010 cell/g of soil. Cold adaptation in insects of Central Yakutia
Biophysics, 2007The mode of cold hardening was for the first time assessed for 20 insect species living in the extremely cold climate of Yakutia. All insects tested were found to adapt through freeze tolerance, producing ice-nucleating agents that cause the hemolymph to freeze at high subzero temperatures.
