Reliability of measures of centrality and prominence
Social Networks, 2005Abstract This paper evaluates the reliability of measures of centrality and prominence of social networks among high school students. The authors present and discuss results from eight experiments. Four types of social support: (1) instrumental support, (2) informational support, (3) social companionship, and (4) emotional support—were measured three

Network Science, 2014
AbstractIn this paper we examine natural generalizations of four widely used centrality measures to subgroups of nodes in a network. This allows for a division into local and global influence. As an example, we analyze a classic network and discuss previously hidden features made visible by these new techniques. Network-wide measures and centralization

A Centrality Measure for Electrical Networks
Proceedings of the 41st Annual Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS 2008), 2008We derive a measure of "electrical centrality" for AC power networks, which describes the structure of the network as a function of its electrical topology rather than its physical topology. We compare our centrality measure to conventional measures of network structure using the IEEE 300-bus network.

AbstractDefining the centrality of nodes and layers in multilayer networks is of fundamental importance for a variety of applications from sociology to biology and finance. This chapter presents the state-of-the-art centrality measures able to characterize the centrality of nodes, the influences of layers or the centrality of replica nodes in ...

Centrality Measures for Text Clustering
Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 2012Text clustering is an unsupervised process of classifying texts and words into different groups. In literature, many algorithms use a bag of words model to represent texts and classify contents. The bag of words model assumes that word order has no signicance.

Central Anticholinergic Adverse Effects and Their Measurement
Drugs & Aging, 2015Drugs with anticholinergic properties are widely used. However, they may evoke a variety of adverse reactions (such as dry mouth and constipation, but also drowsiness and confusion), and therefore unnecessary use of drugs with anticholinergic properties should be avoided.

A Theory of Central Measures for Celestial Mechanics
SIAM Journal on Applied Dynamical Systems, 2017Summary: In this paper we create a theory of central measures for celestial mechanics. This theory generalizes central configurations to include continuum mass distributions. Roughly speaking, if \(V\) is the Newtonian potential generated by a unit point mass, a central measure \(\mu\) for \(V\) is a mass distribution in space characterized by the ...
