Overnight central and peripheral temperature changes in normal infants
Acta Paediatrica, 2003Aim: To explore the relationship between central and peripheral temperature in normal infants after being put down to sleep. Methods: Overnight shin and rectal temperatures of 21 normal infants were continuously recorded at home for three nights at 2 wk, 6 wk, 3 mo and 5 mo of age.

Comparison of normal and below normal July precipitation patterns in central Iowa
Journal of Climatology, 1982AbstractPrevious discussions of wet, dry and normal years in Iowa have been related primarily to the departure of rainfall from a climatological average. Rainfall during the month of July is examined because of its importance on the local cash crop, maize.

Study of central and peripheral motor conduction in normal subjects
Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, 1991Motor potentials to transcranial and cervical magnetic stimulation and F-wave were recorded in 37 arms of 25 normal subjects. Clockwise and anticlockwise cervical stimulation were performed over C5, C7 and T2 spinous processes. A significant correlation was found between height and measurements of central and peripheral motor conduction.

Central Corneal Thickness in Normal, Glaucomatous, and Ocular Hypertensive Eyes
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1997To determine the relationship between central corneal thickness (CCT) and applanation intraocular pressure (IOP) in normal, glaucomatous, and ocular hypertensive eyes. One hundred nine subjects (184 eyes) were studied. Forty-eight patients (74 eyes) had glaucoma, 28 patients (51 eyes) had ocular hypertension, and 33 patients (59 eyes) were normal ...

RADIAL COMPONENT OF CENTRAL MYELIN IN NORMAL AND QUAKING MICE
Neuropathology and Applied Neurobiology, 1981Radial component of myelin sheaths was investigated in C57BL and quaking mice. In immature myelinated fibres of C57BL mice, more than one group of radial component were observed in the several regions of myelin sheaths while in mature fibres, one group of radial component was localized between the internal mesaxon and outer tongue process which were ...

Central and Peripheral Corneal Thickness in Keratoconus and Normal Patient Groups
Optometry and Vision Science, 1994Central and peripheral (superior, inferior, nasal, and temporal) corneal thickness was measured in patients with and without keratoconus using ultrasonic pachometry. In 28 normal eyes (14 patients) mean central corneal thickness (CCT) was 0.56 +/- 0.02 mm and the mean difference in thickness between the mean peripheral corneal thickness (PCT) and CCT ...

Central and peripheral diaphragmatic fatigue in loaded normal and vagotomized dogs
Journal of Applied Physiology, 1993Severe inspiratory elastic load terminated by respiratory arrest (RA) was studied in 24 anesthetized dogs (group 1, normal: n = 14; group 2, vagotomized: n = 10). The peripheral and central components of the decrease in diaphragmatic force generation and the events preceding RA were studied.

Normal Approximations and the Central Limit Theorem
2010Many of the special discrete and special continuous distributions that we have discussed can be well approximated by a normal distribution for suitable configurations of their underlying parameters. Typically, the normal approximation works well when the parameter values are such that the skewness of the distribution is small.
