An appraisal of the literature on centric relation. Part III

Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 2000
The literature directly and indirectly related to centric relation (CR) has been reviewed chronologically. More than 300 papers and quoted sections of books have been divided into three sections. The first two parts are related to CR. Studies in this group mainly compared, either the position of the mandibular condyle or the mandible itself in ...

Effect of different centric relation registrations on the pantographic representation of centric relation

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1981
A study was designed to determine the effect of three different centric relation recording methods on the pantographic representation of centric relation. A modified pantograph was used as the measuring instrument. Variances for each method were established on one subject, and variance of location of centric relation was established on two different ...

Reproducibility of the roth power centric in determining centric relation

Seminars in Orthodontics, 2003
Abstract The reproducibility of the Roth power centric bite registration technique was investigated on healthy subjects. Three different operators performed the procedure to determine interoperator variability. Each operator made 3 bite registrations that were compared by measurements recorded on the condylar position indicator (CPI; Panadent Corp ...

Radiographic study of condylar position in centric relation and centric occlusion

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1980
The present study was conducted to compare the spatial relationship of the condyles to their fossae in the centric occlusion and centric relation positions. Right and left TMJ radiographs were obtained on 40 young adults in the two positions. Direct measurments of the anterior, posterior, and superior spaces between the condyles and their fossae were ...

An instrument for locating centric relation

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1973
Abstract A Hanau model H articulator can be modified so that it can be used to compare several tentative centric relation registrations. A comparison of the records of several centric relation registrations and a protrusive relation registration helps students select the one which has recorded the centric jaw relation correctly.

Centric relation: The periodontists viewpoint

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1966
Abstract The terms “centric relation” and “centric occlusion” have become so thoroughly confusing because of so many conflicting definitions that they should no longer be used. Rather, the various schools of occlusion should use more accurately descriptive names for the positions they now refer to as “centric.” A clinically expedient technique for ...

Centric relation as the treatment position

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1983
Centric relation should be considered as "the most superior position of the mandibular condyles with the central bearing area of the disk in contact with the articular surfaces of the mandibular condyles and the articular eminences." This relationship is justifiable on analysis of the morphology and function of temporo-mandibular joint structures.

Comparison of Myo-Monitor centric position to centric relation and centric occlusion

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1977
Twenty dentulous subjects were selected at random. A Hight tracer, fixed on the labial surface of the teeth by special clutches, was used to indicate a record of centric relation and centric occlusion. The Myo-Monitor centric position was recorded and compared to centric occlusion and centric relation in anteroposterior and lateral dimensions.

THE REPRODUCIBILITY OF CENTRIC RELATION: A CLINICAL APPROACH

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1997
This study addresses the reproducibility of the centric relation, or CR, position. Using bimanual manipulation, several dentists were randomly assigned to one of five patients to clinically determine CR and record this position by using the same wax recording technique.

An improved interocclusal record of centric relation

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1971
Abstract Some of the commonly used interocclusal recording methods were compared, and their working properties were summarized in relation to their fulfillment of their objectives. A centric interocclusal recording method has been described. The desirable characteristics found in this record and recording method are as follows: (1) The record has ...
