Evidence for Drop‐Like Nuclear Deformation in Sheared Endothelial Monolayers

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 10, 17 February 2026.
Physiological shear stress smoothens endothelial monolayers by selectively eliminating less‐spread cells with tall, wrinkled nuclei. Nuclear volume and surface area remain constant, consistent with drop‐like deformation governed by geometric constraints.

Role of N‐glycosylation as a determinant of ATG9A conformations and activity

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Here, we investigate the effects of glycosylation at position N99 on the structural dynamics and lipid scrambling activity of ATG9A, a key autophagy protein, using microsecond all‐atom molecular dynamics simulations. ATG9A is an integral membrane protein involved in autophagosome biogenesis, and glycosylation at N99 has previously been ...

Efficient Computational Strategies for Higher‐Order Homogenisation of Large‐Scale Unit Cell Models

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 126, Issue 24, 30 December 2025.
ABSTRACT Multiscale modelling methods are important for accurately predicting the behaviour of complex, heterogeneous materials. First‐order homogenisation (1OH) has been widely used in this context but shows limitations in cases where the microstructural length scale becomes comparable to the macrostructural length scale, such as in the case of woven ...

Electrical Conductivity in Fibrous Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, Volume 4, Issue 8, August 2025.
The authors derive a geometry‐based electrical model that accurately predicts how conductive fibers overlap, connect, and form percolating networks in composite materials. By uniting network physics with foam‐like cluster modeling, their equations reliably forecast percolation thresholds and conductivity across diverse fiber types and matrices ...

Optimal Deployments of UAVs With Directional Antennas for a Power-Efficient Coverage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
To provide a reliable wireless uplink for users in a given ground area, one can deploy Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) as base stations (BSs). In another application, one can use UAVs to collect data from sensors on the ground.

Advancing Intermediate Soil Properties (ISP) Interpolation for Enhanced Geotechnical Survey Accuracy. A Review

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2025.
Enhancing geotechnical survey accuracy: Integrating intermediate soil properties (ISP) interpolation with multidimensional raster data (MRD) for comprehensive subsurface characterization and improved project efficiency. ABSTRACT Accurate subsurface characterization is essential in geotechnical surveys, yet traditional soil sampling techniques often ...

High‐resolution flood probability mapping using generative machine learning with large‐scale synthetic precipitation and inundation data

open access: yesComputer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Volume 40, Issue 19, Page 2859-2875, 5 August 2025.
Abstract High‐resolution flood probability maps are instrumental for assessing flood risk but are often limited by the availability of historical data. Additionally, producing simulated data needed for creating probabilistic flood maps using physics‐based models involves significant computation and time effort, which inhibit its feasibility. To address

Optimization of centroidal Voronoi tessellations

open access: yes
In this paper, we investigate the optimization of Centroidal Voronoi Tessellations (CVT) under geometric constraints. For this purpose, we minimize a linear combination of the standard CVT energy functional with terms involving geometric attributes such as area and perimeter.

Leveraging deep learning to discover interpretable cellular spatial biomarkers for prognostic predictions based on hepatocellular carcinoma histology

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology: Clinical Research, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2025.
Abstract The spatial structure of various cell types in the tumour microenvironment (TME) can provide valuable insights into disease progression. However, identifying the spatial organization of diverse cell types that significantly correlates with patient prognosis remains challenging.

Visually Assessing 1‐D Orderings of Contiguous Spatial Polygons

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, Volume 44, Issue 3, June 2025.
Abstract One‐dimensional orderings of spatial entities have been researched in many contexts, e.g. spatial indexing structures or visualizations for spatiotemporal trend analysis. While plenty of studies have been conducted to evaluate orderings of point‐based data, polygonal shapes, despite their different topological properties, have received less ...
