Enhanced DQE and sub-pixel resolution by single-event processing in counting hybrid pixel electron detectors: A simulation study

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2023
Detective quantum efficiency (DQE) is a prominent figure of merit for imaging detectors, and its optimization is of fundamental importance for the efficient use of the experimental apparatus.

Improved centroids estimation for the nearest shrunken centroid classifier [PDF]

open access: yesBioinformatics, 2007
AbstractMotivation: The nearest shrunken centroid (NSC) method has been successfully applied in many DNA-microarray classification problems. The NSC uses ‘shrunken’ centroids as prototypes for each class and identifies subsets of genes that best characterize each class. Classification is then made to the nearest (shrunken) centroid.

Digital Sun Sensor Multi-Spot Operation

open access: yesSensors, 2012
The operation and test of a multi-spot digital sun sensor for precise sun-line determination is described. The image forming system consists of an opaque mask with multiple pinhole apertures producing multiple, simultaneous, spot-like images of the sun ...

Photon counting imaging and centroiding with an electron-bombarded CCD using single molecule localisation software [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Photon event centroiding in photon counting imaging and single-molecule localisation in super-resolution fluorescence microscopy share many traits. Although photon event centroiding has traditionally been performed with simple single-iteration algorithms,

Generalized centroid of hyperrings

open access: yesDiscussiones Mathematicae - General Algebra and Applications, 2022
In this paper, the notion of generalized centroid is applied to hyperrings. We show that the generalized centroid C of a semiprime hyperring R is a regular hyperring. Also, we show that if C is a hyperfield, then R is a prime hyperring.

Pseudo-centroid clustering [PDF]

open access: yesSoft Computing, 2016
Pseudo-Centroid Clustering replaces the traditional concept of a centroid expressed as a center of gravity with the notion of a pseudo-centroid (or a coordinate free centroid) which has the advantage of applying to clustering problems where points do not have numerical coordinates (or categorical coordinates that are translated into numerical form ...

Analyzing the Effect of the Intra-Pixel Position of Small PSFs for Optimizing the PL of Optical Subpixel Localization

open access: yesEngineering, 2023
Subpixel localization techniques for estimating the positions of point-like images captured by pixelated image sensors have been widely used in diverse optical measurement fields.

Untargeted Metabolomics Coupled With Machine Learning Unravels Crop-Specific Versus Generalized Effects of Biostimulants in Cucumber, Pepper, and Tomato. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiol Plant
ABSTRACT In recent years, agricultural practices have shifted toward sustainability, aiming to reduce the use of agrochemicals and rely more on bio‐based solutions. However, the effectiveness of these latter suffers from inconsistency. Understanding how different crops respond to biostimulants, instead of referring to a specific trial or crop, is a ...

The Measurement of PSF Ellipticity of an Unobstructed Off-Axis Space Telescope: Error Analysis

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
It is an effective method to detect weak gravitational lensing (WL) in the universe by measuring ellipticities of galaxies via astronomical telescopes. Optical properties of telescopes are critical to WL detections.
