Premature Centromere Division and Other Centromeric Misbehaviour
1993Premature centromere division was initially described for the X chromosome. In an otherwise typical metaphase cell, one chromosome showed no primary constriction and appeared to have no centromere. G-banding analysis indicated that this apparent acentric fragment was an entire X chromosome (Fitzgerald et al., 1975).
