Habitat residency and movement patterns of Centropomus parallelus juveniles in a subtropical estuarine complex

Journal of Fish Biology, 2016
Sixty Centropomus parallelus juveniles were collected in March 2013 in two locations (Tromomó and Guaraguaçu) inside the Paranaguá estuarine complex, southern Brazil. The habitat residency and movement patterns of the individuals were inferred from Sr:Ca ratios and age recorded in the otoliths.

Benzocaine-induced stress in the euryhaline teleost, Centropomus parallelus and its implications for anesthesia protocols

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Molecular & Integrative Physiology, 2018
The use of anesthetic in fish farming is a traditional practice which aims to reduce the stress caused by transport and handling. However, anesthesia-induction protocols are commonly established and implemented without proper physiological/behavioral evaluation.

Early development of fat snook, Centropomus parallelus (Poey 1860) (Teleostei, Centropomidae) from Southeastern Brazil.

Zootaxa, 2013
Early development of fat snook, Centropomus parallelus (Poey 1860), is described based on embryos. and larvae obtained from rearing experiments and from specimens caught in the field, in Cananéia, southeastern Brazil, during December 1999-January 2000. Larvae of common snook, C.

Multiple spawning of the fat snook Centropomus parallelus using different dosages of LHRH

2008
The present experiment studied the effect of different LHRHa doses and multiple inductions to obtain consecutive spawnings in one reproductive season of the female fat snook Centropomus parallelus. The LHRHa hormone was administered in cholesterol pellets. Five induction cycles were carried out, with 16 females and 32 males induced per cycle.

Use of the copepod Acartia tonsa as the first live food for larvae of the fat snook Centropomus parallelus

Aquaculture, 2013
Abstract High-quality live food is essential for reducing the frequent high mortality of newly hatched fat snook ( Centropomus parallelus ) larvae in hatcheries. Copepods, a rich nutrition source, cultivated with the microalgae Chaetoceros muelleri and Isochrysis galbana , were evaluated as food for 0–14-day-old larvae.
