Extracting structure-tokens of cephalograms
1995 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics. Intelligent Systems for the 21st Century, 2002Presents an algorithm and representation scheme for extracting structure tokens of cephalograms directly from X-ray images. The method is based on a principle of visual perception, i.e., edge partitioning and grouping which simulates human visual process on edge perception in certain aspects.

Feature subimage extraction for cephalogram landmarking
Proceedings of the 20th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. Vol.20 Biomedical Engineering Towards the Year 2000 and Beyond (Cat. No.98CH36286), 2002The significant features corresponding to skull structures on cephalograms are clinically useful for cephalometric diagnosis and superimposition. Accordingly the specific anatomical landmarks need to be firstly located for cephalometric measurements. In this paper, a novel method combining the multilayer perceptron and genetic algorithm is proposed to ...

Development of the 3D-cephalogram: A technical note
Journal of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery, 2007The authors developed the 3D-cephalogram via combination of 3D-CT and cephalometric analysis. The 3D-cephalogram can directly express cephalometric data on the surface of skeletal structures in a manner similar to a conventional cephalogram. This analysis revealed complex facial asymmetries in particular, on either side of the mandible.

Mandibular remodeling measured on cephalograms: 2.
American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 1992This study quantifies the differences in the perceived pattern of mandibular remodeling when two different methods are used to superimpose roentgenographic images of the mandible. Lateral cephalograms for a group of subjects with metallic implants of the Bjork type were superimposed twice; first on the metallic implants and then independently on ...

Predicting vertical dimension with cephalograms, for edentulous patients
Gerodontology, 2005Objectives: To provide information on vertical dimension (VD), occlusal plane (OP), and size of future occlusal rims, through lateral Rx and cephalometric tracings that analyse and compare hard and soft tissue. To show that these measures are compatible with methods routinely used to prescribe for full.Design: Ten patients age range 53–81. Lateral Rx,

Automatic Landmarking of Cephalograms by Cellular Neural Networks
2005Cephalometric analysis is a time consuming measurement process by which experienced orthodontist identify on lateral craniofacial X-rays landmarks that are needed for diagnosis and treatment planning and evaluation. High speed and accuracy in detection of craniofacial landmarks are widely demanded.

Automatic Analysis Of Landmarks In Cephalograms
Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Volume 13: 1991, 2005Landmarks on the cephalograms are those representing the actual anatomic structures of the skull. These points are used by orthodontists for diagnosis and treatment planning. In this study, a microcomputer system with a desk-top scanner was employed for locating the landmarks of X-ray cephalogram automatidy.

This study compared angular cephalometric values from scanned traditional lateral cephalograms versus CBCT generated slices. Traditional lateral cephalograms (using Orthoceph OC100) and volumetric CBCT imaging (using NewTom 3G Volume Scanner) were taken from 36 patients.
