Cephalothin Levels in Human Bile

Archives of Surgery, 1974
Cephalothin sodium levels in serum, gallbladder bile, gallbladder tissue, and common duct bile were studied in both normal patients and patients with biliary disease. The results show that cephalothin is concentrated in bile in normal patients and patients with gallbladder disease. In the presence of jaundice, results are less conclusive.

The placental transfer of cephalothin

The Journal of Pediatrics, 1968
Various neonatal effects of a single maternal injection of 1 Gm. of cephalothinwithin the hour prior to delivery were studied in 43 patients. Peak drug levels in the infants lagged 15 to 30 minutes behind peak maternal levels, and the neonate achieved absolute plasma-drug levels far below the mothers'.

Cephalothin v. cephaloridine

Drug and Therapeutics Bulletin, 1969
Cephalosporin compounds, like the penicillins, act by inhibiting cell wall synthesis in multiplying bacteria. By attaching different side chains to the 7-aminocephalosporanic acid nucleus, a number of different cephalosporins have been produced. The first drug of the group to be introduced in Britain was cephaloridine (Ceporin - Glaxo), which we ...

Nephrotoxicity of Cephalothin-Aminoglycoside Interactions

Archives of Internal Medicine, 1982
To the Editor. —The article by Wade et al published in theArchives(1981;141:1789-1793) provides further verification of the nephrotoxicity of the cephalothin sodium-aminoglycoside interaction. The authors were unable to reconcile the protective effect of cephalothin on toxic reactions to aminoglycosides in the animal model with the published results ...
