Increased incidence of postoperative infections during prophylaxis with cephalothin compared to doxycycline in intestinal surgery

open access: yesBMC Surgery, 2009
Background The antibiotics used for prophylaxis during surgery may influence the rate of surgical site infections. Tetracyclines are attractive having a long half-life and few side effects when used in a single dose regimen.

Prevalence, Antibiotic Resistance, and Biofilm Formation of Proteus mirabilis in Dairy Products: Implications for Veterinary and Public Health

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 6, November 2025.
This graphical abstract illustrates the study's core findings on the microbiological safety of dairy products with regard to Proteus mirabilis. A total of 480 dairy samples including raw cow, goat and sheep milk, cheese, yogurt, cream, curd and doogh were microbiologically analysed under controlled laboratory conditions in Shahrekord, Iran.

A Bayesian approach to modeling antimicrobial multidrug resistance.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Multidrug resistance (MDR) has been a significant threat to public health and effective treatment of bacterial infections. Current identification of MDR is primarily based upon the large proportions of isolates resistant to multiple antibiotics ...

Frequency of Pseudomonas's Antibiotic Resistance and Virulence Genes in Poultry Meat

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 6, November 2025.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa detected in 36.69% of poultry meat samples. P. aeruginosa has a high resistance to antibiotic agents, especially penicillin and tetracycline. The findings indicate that poultry meat could play a role in transmitting P. aeruginosa to humans.
