Electrothermal debonding of ceramic brackets. An in vitro study

The European Journal of Orthodontics, 1993
Two different kinds of devices for electrothermal debonding of ceramic brackets are evaluated. Thirty human premolars were bonded with two types of ceramic brackets. Both devices were tested for electrothermal removal of the two bracket types. The pulpal wall temperature increase during electrothermal debonding was recorded in vitro under various ...

Thermal debonding of ceramic brackets: An in vitro study

American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 1997
Thermal debonding has been developed to overcome the problems of enamel damage and high forces when debonding ceramic orthodontic brackets. However, the temperature changes with thermal debonding have the potential to damage the tooth tissues. The principal aims of this study are, first, to investigate the effects of resin type, resin thickness, and ...

[Ceramic brackets].

Tandlaegebladet, 1993
Because of the many drawbacks of the hard and brittle material, ceramic brackets should not be used uncritically for orthodontic treatments. If ceramic brackets are used, the following guidelines should be observed: 1. If large and complicated tooth movements are involved, conventional bracket systems should be considered. 2.

Comparative evaluation of ceramic bracket base designs

American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 1994
Since the initial introduction of ceramic brackets, base designs have been modified to reduce tooth damage during debonding. The purpose of this study was to compare shear and tensile bond strengths and fracture sites of four second-generation ceramic brackets: Allure IV (A) (GAC International, Inc., Central Islip, N.Y.), Ceramaflex (C) (TP ...

Laser debonding of ceramic brackets: A comprehensive review

American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 2003
Since the invention of the ruby laser in the early 1960s, tremendous advances have been made in optic laser technology. Orthodontists have found various uses for lasers, including the debonding of ceramic brackets. Laser energy degrades the adhesive resin used to bond brackets.

Surface topography and frictional characteristics of ceramic brackets

American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 1994
The surface topography and frictional characteristics of single crystal sapphire and polycrystalline alumina brackets were evaluated in both the dry and the wet state as a function of the four basic wire alloy compositions. On the premise that a particular combination of bracket, wire, and environment must be attained so that the efficiency and ...

Shear strength of ceramic brackets bonded to porcelain

American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 1994
The purpose of this study was to compare the bond strengths of three different adhesive systems when used alone and combined with a porcelain priming agent to bond ceramic brackets to porcelain surfaces. Sixty porcelain specimens were randomly assigned to the six different treatment groups.

CO2 laser as auxiliary in the debonding of ceramic brackets

Lasers in Medical Science, 2014
This study evaluated the temperature in the bonding composite and in the pulp chamber, the shear bond strength after the irradiation of CO2 lasers, and the Adhesive Remnant Index (ARI) after debonding of ceramic bracket. A hundred and five premolars were used: 30 to evaluate the temperature and 75 to test the resistance to shear and the ARI.
