Characterization of Gel Layers Formed on Alkali‐Modified Aluminoborate Glasses During Aqueous Corrosion

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The nature of gel formation on borate glasses during dissolution remains relatively unexplored, despite relevance to bioactive glass applications. In this work, we investigate gel‐layer formation on sodium‐ and potassium‐ modified aluminoborate glasses after dissolution in deionized water.

Dynamics and Structure of Molten Neodymium Titanate

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Binary rare earth titanates can be vitrified using levitation melt quenching, and their glasses are promising for optical applications. To better understand their thermophysical properties and dynamics, we have used molecular dynamics (MD) and empirical potential structure refinement (EPSR) to simulate molten neodymium titanate, 83TiO2–17Nd2O3.

Structure‐Informed Design of Float‐Compatible Thin Glass Supported by Data‐Driven Screening

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 6, June 2026.
AI‐assisted screening combined with structure‐informed compositional design enables the development of float‐process‐compatible thin glass with enhanced mechanical performance. The optimized compositions achieve improved fracture load and hardness at a thickness of 0.75 mm, enabling ∼50% weight reduction and up to ∼60% lower process‐related CO2 ...

Structural Role and Mechanical Impact of Zirconia in Lithium Disilicate Glass

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 6, June 2026.
The effect of ZrO2 addition on the structure, topology, and mechanical properties of lithium disilicate glass is investigated using topological constraint theory (TCT), molecular dynamics simulations, and experiments. Zirconia acts as a network former, increasing packing density, rigidity, hardness, and elastic modulus.

Spectral Dispersion of Third‐Order Nonlinearities in NbOPO4‐Modified Tellurite Glasses

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Tellurite‐based glasses have been widely investigated for nonlinear photonic applications due to their high optical nonlinearity and structural flexibility. This work aims to characterize the nonlinear refractive index (n2) and two‐photon absorption coefficient (β$\beta $) of tellurite‐phosphate niobium glasses, and to evaluate the influence ...
