Reevaluating the Activity of ZIF‐8 Based FeNCs for Electrochemical Ammonia Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Though receiving much attention, the field of electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction (eNRR) to ammonia is marked by doubts about whether this reaction is possible in aqueous media. This work sheds light on this question for iron single‐atom on N‐doped carbon (FeNC) catalysts—a class of well‐known catalysts that is also worth testing for the sister

The preparation and characterization of alumina membranes with ultrafine pores 2. The formation of supported membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Supported γ-A12O3 membranes are prepared by a dipping procedure. According to this method, a capillary pressure drop is created by bringing a microporous ceramic support into contact with a boehmite (γ-A1OOH) sol. This pressure drop forces the dispersion

Universal In Situ Isotope Exchange Raman Spectroscopy (IERS) Methodology for Measuring Oxygen Surface Exchange Dynamics Using a Probe Layer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bespoke multilayer thin film configuration has been designed, which overcomes the material dependency of conventional isotope exchange Raman spectroscopy (IERS). This universal IERS methodology is efficient, non‐destructive and provides additional structural information and time resolution, which can be further extended to various isotopic elements ...

The data on the removal of turbidity and biological agents in spent filter backwash by bed ceramic in water treatment process

open access: yesData in Brief, 2018
The use of a ceramic membrane is not only a new and modern technique, but reduce the use of chemicals and coagulants as well, and also having high mechanical and chemical resistance reduces costs over consecutive years.

Microstructural development, electrical properties and oxygen permeation of zirconia-palladium composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Yttria-stabilized cubic zirconia (YSZ)-palladium dual phase composites have been investigated. The percolative composite containing 40 vol% Pd (ZYPd40) showed a much larger oxygen permeability than that of the non-percolative composite containing 30 vol%

Grain Boundary Space Charge Engineering of Solid Oxide Electrolytes: Model Thin Film Study

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates unprecedented control of grain boundary electrical properties in solid electrolytes. Selective diffusion of cations through grain boundaries in thin films enables 12 orders of magnitude variation in ionic resistance, proving that systematic chemical modification of grain boundary electrical properties is feasible.
