Development of waste-based ceramic pigments

open access: yesBoletín de la Sociedad Española de Cerámica y Vidrio, 2007
We report the preparation of ceramic pigments using industrial wastes as primary sources. In this context, the use of Al-rich sludge generated in the wastewater treatment unit of an anodising or surface coating industrial plant, and a galvanizing sludge from the Cr/Ni plating process, will be detailed.

Effect of Delayed Exposure to Staining Agents on the Color Stability and Translucency of Esthetic Resin Composites

open access: yesJournal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the effect of delayed exposure to staining agents and resin composite type on the discoloration and translucency changes of esthetic resin composites. Materials and Methods Five resin composites (Asteria, Tokuyama; Brillant EverGlow, Coltene; GC A'chord; Harmonize; and Filtek Ultimate, 3M ESPE) were tested. Disc specimens

Archaeological Investigations at the Wade (GC-38) and Estes (GC-49) Sites in the Sabine River Basin, Gregg County, Texas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Buddy C. Jones conducted extensive archaeological investigations in the 1950s and 1960s at many sites in the mid-Sabine River basin of East Texas, especially on Caddo sites of various ages in Gregg, Harrison, and Rusk counties. However, that work has not

Effect of Successive Bleaching Treatments Followed by Staining on Color, Whiteness, and Translucency of Polymer‐Based CAD‐CAM Materials

open access: yesJournal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate differences in color, whiteness, and translucency of CAD‐CAM materials after successive bleaching treatments and coffee immersion. Materials and Methods Lava Ultimate (LU) and VITA Enamic (VE) were divided into four groups (n = 12): untreated (control), 35% hydrogen peroxide (WH), 10% carbamide peroxide (OP), or WH ...

Doping and synthesis method effect on zirconium silicate conductivity

open access: yesBoletín de la Sociedad Española de Cerámica y Vidrio, 2006
The colour mechanisms of blue V- ZrSiO4 and yellow Pr- ZrSiO4 ceramic pigments which strongly depend on both fluorine addition and synthesis method, are still controversial.

Fluorescence of thermal control coatings on S0069 and A0114 [PDF]

open access: yes
Many of the thermal control surfaces exposed to the space environment during the 5.8 year LDEF mission experienced changes in fluorescence. All of the thermal control coatings flown on LDEF experiments S0069 and A0114 were characterized for fluorescence ...

The Lake Clear (41SM243) Site and Crotalus horridus atricaudatus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
I fell heir to a collection of prehistoric Caddo sherds from my late Uncle Sam Whiteside and a location on a 7.5’ topographic map labeled Lake Clear. Sam Whiteside during the period from the mid-1950s to the late 1960s was very active in the East Texas ...

Heterocoagulation-spray drying process for the inclusion of ceramic pigments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The improvement of the physico-chemical resistance of hematite pigment in ceramic bodies has been pursued through its inclusion into a transparent and refractory matrix of silica or zirconia.
