For high-repetition-rate nanosecond high-power solid-state lasers, it is essential to choose gain media with moderate saturation flux. Among these materials, Nd:Lu3Al5O12 (LuAG) transparent ceramics have shown significant potential.

At Li-garnet interface, the poor interfacial wettability due to Li2CO3 passivation causes large resistance and unstable contact. Here the authors propose a Li2CO3-affiliative mechanism for air-accessible interface engineering of garnet electrolyte with ...

ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Modulation of the morphotropic phase boundary for high-performance ductile thermoelectric materials
The flexible thermoelectric technique, which can convert heat from the human body to electricity via the Seebeck effect, is expected to provide a peerless solution for the power supply of wearables.

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.
