Pest categorisation of Ips amitinus
Abstract The Panel on Plant Health performed a pest categorisation of the small spruce bark beetle, Ips amitinus (Eichhoff) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae, Scolytinae), for the EU. I. amitinus is a well‐defined and distinguishable species, native to Europe and attacking mainly spruce (Picea spp.) and pine (Pinus spp.) and sporadically fir (Abies spp.) and ...

Pest categorisation of Ips typographus
Abstract The Panel on Plant Health performed a pest categorisation of the eight‐toothed spruce bark beetle, Ips typographus L. (Coleoptera: Curculionidae, Scolytinae), for the EU. I. typographus is a well‐defined and distinguishable species, recognised mainly as a pest of spruce (Picea spp.) in Eurasia. It also attacks other conifers such as Abies spp.,

Ecological and Evolutionary Determinants of Bark Beetle —Fungus Symbioses
Ectosymbioses among bark beetles (Curculionidae, Scolytinae) and fungi (primarily ophiostomatoid Ascomycetes) are widespread and diverse. Associations range from mutualistic to commensal, and from facultative to obligate.

Pest categorisation of non‐EU Scolytinae on non‐coniferous hosts
Abstract The EFSA Panel on Plant Health performed a group pest categorisation for the EU territory of non‐EU Scolytinae (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) on non‐coniferous hosts, which total 6495 known species. Most species attack apparently healthy, weakened or dead trees, either feeding on the phloem (‘bark beetles’ subgroup) or on fungi inoculated into ...

We investigated the population genomic structure of the fungal pathogens Beauveria brongniartii and B. pseudobassiana, which were isolated from adult Melolontha melolontha beetles. We conclude that the genomic population structure of Beauveria spp. is primarily influenced by widespread clonal reproduction and long‐distance dispersal. Abstract Beauveria
