Ultrastructural changes in the follicular epithelium ofCeratophrys cranwelliprevitellogenic oocytes
SummaryIn this work we carried out ultrastructural, autoradiographic and biochemical analyses of the follicular epithelium duringC. cranwelliprevitellogenesis. This study revealed that the follicular epithelium in early previtellogenesis is constituted of a single layer of squamous homogeneous cells.

In this work we carried out an ultrastructural analysis of the cell interface between oocyte and follicle cells during the oogenesis of the amphibian Ceratophrys cranwelli, which revealed a complex cell-cell interaction. In the early previtellogenic follicles, the plasma membrane of the follicle cells lies in close contact with the plasma membrane of ...

Morphology and feeding in tadpoles of Ceratophrys cranwelli (Anura: Leptodactylidae)
AbstractThis paper provides data on the skeleton, musculature, buccal apparatus, buccopharyngeal cavity and diet of Ceratophrys cranwelli tadpoles, and attempts to contribute to the knowledge of relations between morphology and ecology in anuran larvae.

Motivations behind wild animal consumption in social media in Mexico: A case study
Abstract Wildlife trade is a worldwide threat to biodiversity. It is a complex problem, and to deal with it, one must analyse its constituting factors, some of which are specific to certain geographic areas. Although Mexican laws have prohibited selling wild products, Mexico is still both a source and consumer of exotic wildlife; however, there is ...

We performed a systematic review on the available literature on in situ studies of neotropical tadpole diets focusing on diet composition and its sources of variation. Such studies approached in just a few instances the effects of seasonality, developmental stage and food selectivity on diet composition, but the available data indicate none of these ...

Underwater sound emission as part of an antipredator mechanism in
AbstractWe report the emission of underwater sounds in the tadpoles of a second member of the family Ceratophryidae, Ceratophrys cranwelli. These tadpoles produce a short metallic‐like sound, which consists of short trains of pulses at Gosner stages 25, 28, and 37.

[Bioacoustic of the advertisement call of Ceratophrys cranwelli (Anura: Ceratophryidae)].
The advertisement call plays an important role in the life history of anuran amphibians, mainly during the breeding season. Call features represent an important character to discriminate species, and sound emissions are very effective to assure or reinforce genetic incompatibility, especially in the case of sibling species.
