Charophyte occurrence in Ceratophyllum demersum stands [PDF]
The hornwort Ceratophyllum demersum is a loosely attached to the bottom or free-floating vascular macrophyte, which builds dense stands in nutrient-rich waters. The hornwort stands are usually monospecific communities with a negligible contribution of other aquatic plants.

Regeneration of Podostemon ceratophyllum
Botanical Gazette, 19361. Podostemon ceratophyllum has an unusual capacity for regeneration, which is possessed by each of its vegetative organs, and this regeneration can readily be observed in laboratory cultures. 2. If the distal end of a root is cut off, a new root growing point is initiated back of the cut surface.

Ceratophyllum demersum-An accretion biotool for heavy metal remediation
Science of The Total Environment, 2022Freshwater habitats are under serious threat due to the diverse pressures of development and restoration of these ecosystems is an important challenge in the present era. With a number of scientifically advanced methods available for restoration of these systems, phytoremediation finds its unique space as an ecologically sustainable technique.

Aquatic macrophytes play a critical role in the removal and sequestration of heavy metals from contaminated freshwater systems through bioaccumulation and phytoremediation processes. This study examines the capacity of two submerged aquatic plants, Ceratophyllum submersum and Ceratophyllum demersum, to accumulate nickel (Ni) and cobalt (Co) from ...

Variation of Ceratophyllum Demersum in Eastern Kansas
Transactions of the Kansas Academy of Science (1903-), 1951Field observations in the state reveal that Ceratophyllum demersum L. is a much more common plant than our records show. Gates (1940) lists the plant from eight scattered counties. The writer has, however, found the species in many Kansas counties and feels certain that it occurs throughout the state in suitable habitats.

The kinetics of NH4 uptake by Ceratophyllum
Hydrobiologia, 1973The relationship between growth of aquatic plants and their nutrient supply is poorly understood, because of the lack of suitable models which could be tested in the field. The purpose of this research was to learn if the Michaelis-Menten expression describes the relationship between the uptake of NH4 by Ceratophyllum and the concentration of NH4 in ...

Hormonal interactions in Ceratophyllum demersum
Aquatic Botany, 1982Ceratophyllum demersum L. is a submerged aquatic macrophyte without roots. It occurs in winter in the dormant form and in summer in the active form. The effect of application of mixtures of indole acetic acid (IAA), abscisic acid (ABA) and gibberellic acid (GA3) on subsequent growth after treatment in the quiescent stage was studied.

Growth Substances and Dormancy in Ceratophyllum demersum
Physiologia Plantarum, 1979Abstract Ceratophyllum demersum L. occurs in winter in the dormant form, in summer in the vegetative form. Factors that affect growth and dormancy in Ceratophyllum were studied. After several weeks of severe winter conditions the plants changed from dormant to quiescent state.
