Engineered Microfluidic Organoid Systems: New Paradigms for Menopause Mechanism Research and Personalized Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review explores the integration of microfluidic technology with organoid systems as an innovative platform for studying menopausea complex multi‐organ condition. By enabling precise simulation of inter‐organ communication and hormone responses, microfluidic organoids offer a physiologically relevant model for investigating menopausal syndrome and ...

Microglia modulate the cerebrovascular reactivity through ectonucleotidase CD39

open access: yesNature Communications
Microglia and the border-associated macrophages contribute to the modulation of cerebral blood flow, but the mechanisms have remained uncertain.

Cerebral Blood Flow Studies in Stroke [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
This consideration of the relationship of neuro-transmitters not only to cerebral infarction but also to subarachnoid hemorrhage is, to my mind, the most promising area of investigation over the next decade.

Non‐Invasive Multidimensional Capacitive Sensing for In Vivo Traumatic Brain Injury Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Single‐electrode, multidimensional capacitive sensors noninvasively assess cerebral autoregulation and compliance for traumatic brain injury monitoring. ABSTRACT Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of death and disability, but invasive intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring is risky, and current non‐invasive methods lack the resolution and ...

Phase contrast-derived cerebral blood flow is associated with neurodegeneration and cerebrovascular injury in older adults

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience
Global cerebral blood flow and the local delivery of blood through the vascular network are essential to maintain brain and cognitive health throughout the lifespan.

Additive Manufacturing of Patient‐Specific Intracranial Aneurysm Cell Culture Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Patient‐specific intracranial aneurysm models were fabricated using chocolate moulding, 3D printed water‐soluble cores, and direct resin 3D printing. Moulding PDMS around sacrificial cores made of chocolate or 3D printed water‐soluble resin yielded accurate, expandable, and endothelializable models that outperformed resin‐based approaches.

Cerebral Blood Flow in Mild Cognitive Impairment and Dementia: A Systematic Review and Meta- Analysis of Transcranial Doppler Studies

open access: yesCerebral Circulation - Cognition and Behavior
Introduction: Reduced cerebral blood flow has been associated with cognitive decline and incident dementia, with oxidative stress and reduced beta-amyloid clearance as possible mechanisms for neurodegeneration.

Perfusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging of the brain: techniques and application in children [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Perfusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (PWI) has been proposed as an attractive non-invasive tool for evaluating cerebral haemodynamics. Quantitative maps of cerebral blood flow (CBF), cerebral blood volume (CBV), mean transit time (MTT), time to ...
