A case of retrograde venous air embolism causing cerebral infarction following upper gastrointestinal endoscopy: A novel pathophysiological mechanism

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2018
The incidence of cerebral infarction following upper gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures is well described in the existing literature, with most mechanisms involving arterial travel of the embolus.

IL‐3 Modulates Microglia Polarization and Attenuates Neuroinflammation in Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IL‐3 recruits PRDX1 through IL‐3R to modulate the inflammatory response of microglia via the KEAP1‐NRF2‐HO‐1/NF‐κB pathway to attenuate neuroinflammation in traumatic brain injury. ABSTRACT Microglia play a crucial role in the progression of neuroinflammation following traumatic brain injury (TBI). Interleukin‐3 (IL‐3), a significant regulatory factor,

Nature‐Inspired Surface Modification Strategy Reverses the Autophagic Flux Impairment of Mitochondrial Transplantation for Attenuating Ischemic Strokes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The functionalized starch modifies the mitochondrial surface and encapsulates resveratrol into the cavity of helices, facilitating a novel mitochondrial transplantation platform (MLSR). Upon internalization in recipient cells, MLSR triggers mitophagy and maintains positive autophagic flux through RIP1/RIP3 pathway inhibition.
