Microbial metabolite indole‐3‐propionic acid preserves astrocytic mitochondrial mitofusin 2 to limit neuroinflammation after traumatic brain injury

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Following traumatic brain injury, indole‐3‐propionic acid (IPA) directly targets the aryl hydrocarbon receptor on astrocytes in the peri‐lesional cortex; this suppresses interferon regulatory factor 1‐driven transcription of the E3 ubiquitin ligase RFFL (ring finger and FYVE‐like domain containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase).

Current strategies to enhance the target efficiency of advanced multifunctional ultrasound contrast agents in ischemic diseases

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract outlines a novel multifunctional ultrasound contrast agent for the diagnosis and treatment of ischemic diseases, along with innovative strategies to enhance its targeting efficiency. Abstract Ischemic diseases, such as myocardial infarction, stroke, and peripheral ischemia, are leading causes of death and disability worldwide ...

Study of Risk Factors and Image Findings of Isolated Abdominal Incidentally Detected Aortic Dissection

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, Volume 53, Issue 3, Page 429-435, March/April 2025.
We detect the risk factors and image characteristics of incidentally detected IAAD. Independent risk factors of IAAD included fatty liver and smoking. In the ultrasound findings of IAAD, an intimal flap was frequently observed. In the CT scan, displacement of intimal calcifications was frequently observed. For suspected IAAD, the abdominal aorta should

Acute Effects of Smoking and Vaping on Markers of Vascular Function via Quantitative MRI

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background E‐cigarettes contribute to endothelial dysfunction, a known cause of systemic atherosclerotic disease that cannot be adequately characterized by a single physiological parameter measured at a single vascular bed. Purpose/Hypothesis Quantify and compare acute effects of smoking or vaping with tobacco cigarettes (t‐cigs), nicotinized ...

Investigating Associations Between Signal Intensity of Silent MR Angiography and Hemodynamic Information From 4D Flow MRI in Brain Arteriovenous Malformation

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Whether signal intensity (SI) on Silent MRA reflects hemodynamics in brain arteriovenous malformations (BAVMs) is unclear. Objectives To evaluate the relationship between Silent MRA SI and 4D flow‐derived hemodynamic parameters and examine whether Silent MRA‐based metrics are associated with symptomatic hemorrhage in BAVM.

Structural Covariance Analysis of Altered Brain Development in Neonates With Congenital Heart Disease After Surgery

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Brain development is altered in neonates with congenital heart disease (CHD), with well‐characterised reductions in regional brain volumes and enlargement of CSF spaces. However, perioperative morphological changes remain incompletely understood. Purpose To identify brain regions showing spatial patterns of coordinated expansion and
