Crossing the Blood–Brain Barrier with Molecularly Imprinted Polymeric Nanocarriers: An Emerging Frontier in Brain Disease Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Molecularly imprinted polymeric nanocarriers (nanoMIPs) offer robust, antibody‐mimetic platforms to overcome the blood‐brain barrier. The article surveys nanoMIP design and ligand‐directed surface engineering that harness receptor‐mediated transcytosis, and highlights therapeutic and diagnostic applications in neurodegeneration, brain tumors and ...

Resilient Calvarial Bone Marrow Supports Retinal Repair in Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Skull bone (calvarium) marrow in diabetic mice stay structurally intact and keeps making blood cells, unlike the bone marrow of the leg bones. The skull marrow is exposed to cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which contains protective molecules called oxysterols.

Amelioration of Post‐Stroke Edema and Microcirculatory Dysfunction via Targeted AQP4 Inhibition While Preserving the Glymphatic System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Compared to untargeted therapy, the targeted nanocarrier, Angiopep‐2‐conjugated Lipid Nanoparticle (A‐LNP) loaded with TGN‐020 (TGN), selectively accumulated in stroke‐injured regions. It suppressed local aquaporin‐4 (AQP4) overexpression, thereby alleviating cerebral edema and hypoperfusion while preserving global glymphatic clearance.

Clinical utility of CSF Aβ38 in Japanese research and clinical cohorts

open access: yesAlzheimer’s & Dementia: Diagnosis, Assessment & Disease Monitoring
INTRODUCTION Previous studies have reported that cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) amyloid beta (Aβ42/Aβ38) performs comparably to Aβ42/Aβ40 in predicting amyloid positron emission tomography (PET) positivity in White cohorts.

Disease Progression in Multiple System Atrophy: The ASPIRE Multi‐Modal Biomarker Study

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective The objective of this study was to characterize changes in candidate biomarkers in early multiple system atrophy (MSA) and identify baseline predictors of faster progression. Methods This 1‐year, multicenter, prospective study assessed clinical, neuroimaging (3T‐magnetic resonance imaging [MRI], dopamine transporter single‐photon emission ...

Neutrophil extracellular trap-associated protein in cerebrospinal fluid for prognosis evaluation of adult bacterial meningitis: a retrospective case-control study

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases
Background and objectives Central nervous system infections, typified by bacterial meningitis, stand as pivotal emergencies recurrently confronted by neurologists. Timely and precise diagnosis constitutes the cornerstone for efficacious intervention. The
