Impact of Intraoperative Fluid Volume on Complications After Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy: Analysis of 8782 Patients From the Japanese National Clinical Database

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This multicenter cohort study of 8782 esophagectomies in Japan found that higher intraoperative fluid volume significantly increased the risk of pneumonia after minimally invasive esophagectomy. Avoiding fluid overload may help reduce postoperative pneumonia.

Cerebrovascular disease in ageing and Alzheimer’s disease

open access: yesActa Neuropathologica, 2015
Cerebrovascular disease (CVD) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) have more in common than their association with ageing. They share risk factors and overlap neuropathologically.

Association Between Cholecystectomy and Gastric Cancer in a Cohort Study in Taiwan

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The association between cholecystectomy and gastric cancer is undetermined. The objective of this study was to assess whether subjects with cholecystectomy are at risk of gastric cancer in Taiwan. Methods This study used data from a cohort of 2 000 000 beneficiaries over a twelve‐year period (2010–2021) from the Taiwan National ...

An NIR‐III 3P Excitable AIE Nanoprobe for High‐Quality Intravital Deep‐Brain Angiography

open access: yesAggregate, EarlyView.
A robust NIR‐III 3P excitable AIE probe was developed based on the proposed design strategy of π‐bridge manipulation to reconcile competing molecular parameters and optimize 3P fluorescence properties, which achieved optimal quality in intravital deep‐brain angiography among all reported organic 3P probes in terms of vascular imaging depth, SBR ...

The Role of Astragaloside IV against Cerebral Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury: Suppression of Apoptosis via Promotion of P62-LC3-Autophagy

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Background: Ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) caused by ischemic stroke treatments leads to brain injury, and autophagy plays a role in the pathology. Astragaloside IV is a potential neuroprotectant, but its underlying mechanism on cerebral I/R injury needs to ...

Cerebrovascular pathology in Down syndrome and Alzheimer disease

open access: yesActa Neuropathologica Communications, 2017
People with Down syndrome (DS) are at high risk for developing Alzheimer disease (AD) with age. Typically, by age 40 years, most people with DS have sufficient neuropathology for an AD diagnosis.
