Epigenetic regulation of mycorrhizal symbioses: from plastic responses to transgenerational legacies
Summary Mycorrhizal symbioses represent one of the most widespread and ecologically significant plant–microbe interactions, shaping plant nutrition, stress resilience, and ecosystem functioning. Beyond their role in nutrient exchange and systemic defense, growing evidence suggests that these symbioses also influence plant plasticity within and across ...

CERES-Maize Simulation Model: Establishment of Planting Windows for Grains Maize under Rainfed Conditions [PDF]
Growing period or planting windows concepts is a useful approach in identifying suitable planting time for crop under rainfed management. It will help farmers to ensure the crop success.

Tracer testing assessed hydraulics and nitrate removal in three full‐scale agricultural drainage treatment wetlands over 3.5 years (three tests). The first test showed rapid, short‐circuited flow and low residence time. After modifying the collection system, the second test increased residence time from 1 to 7 days.

Improving Crop Models: Incorporating New Processes, New Approaches, and Better Calibrations [PDF]
Early ancestors of crop simulation models (De Wit, 1965; Monteith, 1965; Duncan et al., 1967) were born before primitive personal computers were available (e.g. Apple II released in 1977, IBM PC released in 1981).

Abstract A key prerequisite of transporter proteins' function is their trafficking to the target cellular membranes where they fulfill distinct physiological roles. Cornichon proteins (CNIH/Erv14) represent a highly conserved family of coat protein complex II (COPII)‐coated vesicle cargo receptors that facilitate the exit of numerous transporters from ...

ABSTRACT The effects of different irrigation methods (center pivot [CPI], subsurface drip [SDI] and furrow irrigation [FI]) and levels (full irrigation treatment [FIT], 80% FIT, 60% FIT and rainfed) on yield, crop evapotranspiration (ETc), ET‐water productivity (WPET) and drought stress index for leaf expansion (SIE) and photosynthesis (SIP) of maize ...

Plant Development and Leaf Area Production in Contrasting Cultivars of Maize Grown in a Cool Temperate Environment in the Field [PDF]
Crop models need accurate simulation of the interdependent processes of crop development and leaf area production. Crop development proceeds according to genotype characteristics and environmental influences, specifically temperature and photoperiod.

Improving evapotranspiration simulations in the CERES-Maize model under limited irrigation
Abstract Limitations on water resources for agriculture in places such as Colorado, USA, have caused farmers to consider limited irrigation as an alternative to full irrigation practices, where the crop is intentionally stressed during specific growth stages in an effort to maximize yield per unit water consumed, or evapotranspiration (ET).
