Improving hospital nutrition care through “Indigenous cultural safety” of menu options: Results of a cross‐sectional survey of Indigenous people in Western Canada

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, Volume 41, Issue 1, Page 266-277, February 2026.
Abstract Background Hospital nutrition services rarely offer Indigenous‐specific menu options, an essential element of delivering “Indigenous cultural safety” in nutrition care to Indigenous patients. Methods Indigenous participants (n = 370) completed a semistructured Indigenous Food Ways survey (paper‐based and online) from 2021 to 2022 as part of ...

Modifying the response to defoliation during vegetative growth in CERES-Maize

open access: yesAgricultural Systems, 1992
Abstract CERES-Maize (Vl. 0) predicted no grain yield when 100% defoliation occurred during vegetative growth. This result conflicted with field observations where 100% defoliation early in the vegetative stage did not materially reduce grain yield.

Assessing maize growth and yield response to different P fertilizer levels with an adapted DSSAT CSM‐CERES‐Maize model

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Abstract Phosphorus (P) is essential for maize (Zea mays L.) growth but is a limited and non‐renewable resource. Studies using DSSAT CSM‐CERES‐Maize remain scarce for low‐P soils. This study assessed maize yield response to P fertilization in P‐deficient soils using an adapted version of the DSSAT CSM‐CERES‐Maize model with minor code modifications to ...

Pythia: A gridded modeling framework for decision support system for agrotechnology transfer for multiple spatiotemporal scale applications

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Abstract Crop models are essential tools to understand risks, vulnerabilities, and uncertainties in agricultural systems. Advancements in digital data acquisition and accessibility of crop and land area data with larger spatial coverage and higher spatial resolutions necessitate corresponding developments in flexible multi‐scale crop modeling ...

Improving Crop Growth Simulation in the Hydrologic Model DRAINMOD to Simulate Corn Yields in Subsurface Drained Landscapes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The primary goal of drainage research has been shifting from maximizing crop production to environmental impacts with the increasing concern related to the transport of nutrients, specifically nitrate-nitrogen (NO3-N) with subsurface drainage water from ...

Variability in the Content of Essential Oils and Selected Mycotoxins in Spices of the Apiaceae Family

open access: yesFlavour and Fragrance Journal, Volume 41, Issue 1, Page 37-49, January 2026.
The study analysed essential oils and mycotoxins in five types of spices. The results showed variability in oil yield and detection of T‐2 and HT‐2 toxin concentrations, highlighting the importance of quality assessment of spices to ensure food safety.

Evaluating Simulated Groundwater Contributions to Streamflow in a Data‐Scarce, Semi‐Arid Catchment in South Africa

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 1, January 2026.
Calibration procedure selection should be carefully considered in data‐scarce circumstances, as good model efficiency does not necessarily guarantee a realistic representation of hydrological processes. Stable isotopes proved effective in validating model results and detecting shortcomings in the J2000 model caused by sparse hydroclimatic data and the ...
