Cermet Cements

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1990
Cermet ionomer cements are sintered metal/glass powders, which can be made to react with poly(acids). These new cements are significantly more resistant to abrasion than regular glass ionomer cements and are widely accepted as core build-up materials and lining cements.

Hardmetals And Cermets

Annual Review of Materials Research, 1989
Hardmetals or cemented carbides (sometimes less accurately called sin tered carbides) are composite materials with one or more hard but rela tively brittle components and a ductile binder metal that imparts a certain degree of toughness to the composite material without impairing the high hardness of the carbide components.

Solid Solution Cermet: (Ti,Nb)(CN)–Ni Cermet

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2014
Solid solution powders without W, (Ti,Nb)(CN) powders with a B1 structure (NaCl like), were synthesized by high energy milling and carbothermal reduction in nitrogen. The range of molar ratios of Ti/Nb for forming complete (Ti,Nb)(CN) phase was broader than that of Ti/W for the (Ti,W)(CN) phase because carbide or carbonitride of Nb had a B1 crystal ...

Cermets

1990
Abstract Ceramic-metal composites, or cermets, combine the heat and wear resistance of ceramics with the formability of metals, filling an application niche that includes cutting tools, brake pads, heat shields, and turbine components.

A study of cermets' wear behaviour

Wear, 1997
The wear behaviour of cermet materials commercially available for cutting tool applications is investigated. Four insert types of diverse cermet compositions are used in dry face milling of steel AISI-SAE 1045 and in erosion tests under oblique and orthogonal impacting conditions.

Cermets

1989
Abstract Cermets are a group of powder metallurgy products consisting of ceramic particles bonded with a metal. This article describes the composition and microstructure of titanium carbide and titanium carbonitride cermets. It tabulates typical properties of titanium carbonitride cermets and compares the properties of cermets and ...
