Efficient and Robust Heterostructure CeZrOx/NiO‐Ni Inverse Catalyst for Sustainable Photothermal CO2 Methanation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A heterostructured CeZrOx/NiO‐Ni inverse catalyst is designed for highly efficient photothermal CO2 methanation under low‐intensity light without auxiliary heating. It achieves 464 mmol·gcat−1·h−1 methane space‐time yield under natural concentrated sunlight, maintains stability over light‐dark cycles and extended air storage, and is scalable to 100 g ...

Wear of potential tool materials for aluminium alloys friction stir welding at weld temperatures; pp. 198-206 [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, 2019
Friction stir welding is a solid-state joining process that uses a non-consumable tool to join materials by mixing them mechanically in the weld area instead of melting them.

High-Velocity Impact of 2-Phase WC/Co Composite Plate – Beginning of the Process [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2020
2-phase composites are often used for high demanding parts that can undergo impact loads. However, most of the papers on dynamic loading concerns layered composites. In our opinion, the impact loads are not considered thoroughly enough.

The Future of Hydrogen‐Powered Aviation: Technologies, Challenges, and a Strategic Roadmap for Sustainable Decarbonization

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Hydrogen‐powered aviation offers a transformative pathway to zero‐emission flight by eliminating in‐flight CO2 emissions. Key considerations include propulsion systems (fuel cells and hydrogen combustion), cryogenic storage and insulation challenges, infrastructure and cost barriers, and supply‐chain constraints.

Effect of a titanium nitride interlayer on the densification, properties and microstructure of cermets based on alumina and nickel. Part 2: Microstructures [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
SEM microstructural analyses in conjunction with EDX and TEM microstructural analyses have been conducted with cermets based on nickel and alumina, the latter as such and with a chemical-vapour-deposited titanium nitride layer.

Harnessing Carbon‐Containing Materials for Next‐Generation High‐Temperature Electromagnetic Wave Absorbers

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Traditional carbon materials show limited high‐temperature oxidation resistance, which becomes pronounced above 673 K and significantly restricts their practical applicability. To address this challenge, enhancing polarization loss and leveraging its negative temperature dependence to offset the temperature‐induced increase in conductance loss are ...

Alloying Cu, Fe, and Co in Ni/YSZ Electrodes for High‐Temperature CO2 Electrolysis: Impact on TPB Density, Activity, and Carbon Deposition Resistance

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Systematic alloying of Ni with Cu, Fe, and Co in Ni/YSZ electrodes modifies active site density up to 43%, decreases activation energies by up to 44%, and reduces carbon deposition fourfold. Cu–Ni alloy is among the most promising alloy catalysts for electrochemical CO2 reduction in SOECs.
