Structural and productive responses of signalgrass and its association with leaf area index and light interception under silvopastoral or monoculture systems

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 8, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract Silvopastoral systems (SPSs) have emerged as one of the most prominent alternatives for grassland recovery. We evaluated the structural and productive responses of signalgrass [Urochloa decumbens (Stapf.) R. D. Webster] and its association with leaf area index (LAI) and light interception (LI) measured with different equipment across different

Hard Mating Aggregation as Evidence of Polyandry in the Red‐Tailed Boa, Boa constrictor (Squamata: Boidae), in a Brazilian Caatinga Population

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2025.
This study reports a reproductive aggregation of a female Boa constrictor with five males in the Brazilian Caatinga. The observation reinforces the evidence of a polyandrous system, favoring larger females that copulate with different males. Our record highlights the influence of sexual size dimorphism in the formation of aggregations.

Seasonal Variation of Forest Butterfly Diversity in Tropical Lowland Nepal

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2025.
The butterfly diversity significantly varied between the seasons, with two seasonal peaks of richness: pre‐monsoon and post‐monsoon. Nymphalidae was the richest, most abundant, and most diverse family. The overall species richness and abundance were positively affected by increased temperature but negatively affected by increased precipitation ...

Distribution and Influences on Butterfly Diversity in Urban Park Green Spaces: A Case Study of Harbin, China

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2025.
Urban parks play a crucial role in biodiversity conservation amid increasing urbanization. This study investigates the effects of park characteristics and surrounding landscape heterogeneity on butterfly diversity in 44 urban parks in Harbin, China. Results show that integrating spatial heterogeneity metrics significantly improves model performance ...
