Oxidative and/or Inflammatory Thrust Induced by Silver Nanoparticles in Rabbits: Effect of Vitamin E or NSAID Administration on Semen Parameters

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2020
The aim of this research was to evaluate the inflammatory and/or oxidative damage related to silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), which are responsible for negative effects on sperm physiology and metabolism.

Shining Bright at 960 nm: A 28‐Silver‐Atom Nanorod Stabilized by DNA

open access: yesSmall Structures
Fluorescence imaging is a key tool in biological and medical sciences. Despite the potential for increased imaging depth in the near‐infrared range, the limited availability of bright emitters hinders its widespread implementation.

Structure of a DNA-Stabilized Ag16Cl2 Nanocluster in Solution. [PDF]

open access: yesAngew Chem Int Ed Engl
X‐ray total scattering and pair distribution function analysis are used to determine the first solution‐state structure of a DNA‐stabilized Ag nanocluster. Abstract We determine the first solution‐state structure of a DNA‐stabilized Ag16Cl2 nanocluster using X‑ray total scattering and pair distribution function analysis.

A DNA‐Stabilized Ag1812+ Cluster with Excitation‐Intensity‐Dependent Dual Emission

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 135, Issue 39, September 25, 2023., 2023
A DNA‐stabilized Ag1812+ cluster displays dual emission which can be used to create a ratiometric light intensity meter. Abstract DNA‐stabilized silver nanoclusters (DNA‐AgNCs) are easily tunable emitters with intriguing photophysical properties. Here, a DNA‐AgNC with dual emission in the red and near‐infrared (NIR) regions is presented.

Virgin olive oil processing by high voltage electrical discharge or high hydrostatic pressure

open access: yesJournal of Food Processing and Preservation, Volume 46, Issue 9, September 2022., 2022
Abstract We test the application of two emerging technologies to virgin olive oil (VOO) processing. high voltage electrical discharge (HVED) was tested at 20 kV and about 100 kJ/kg of VOO. High‐pressure processing (HPP) was applied for 360 s at about 600 MPa. VOO quality indices were evaluated immediately after treatment and after 6 months.

Exploring harmony in extra virgin olive oils and vegetables pairings

open access: yesGrasas y Aceites, 2020
Despite the growing interest in the sensory and healthy properties of extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), the topic of oil-food pairing is practically unexplored.

Resistin in Human Seminal Plasma: Relationship with Lipid Peroxidation, CAT Activity, GSH/GSSG Ratio, and Semen Parameters. [PDF]

open access: yesOxid Med Cell Longev, 2019
Resistin is an adipokine involved in inflammation and able to induce the expression of other proinflammatory cytokines. It is known that, in human semen, resistin is correlated with inflammatory cytokines and sperm quality. The aim of this prospective study was to explore the potential relationship between resistin, lipid peroxidation (LPO), catalase ...
