Prediction of reinjection effects in the Cerro Prieto geothermal system [PDF]

open access: yesGeothermics, 1984
The response of the Cerro Prieto geothermal field to different reinjection schemes is predicted using a two-dimensional vertical reservoir model with single- or two-phase flow. The advance of cold fronts and pressure changes in the system associated with the injection operations are computed, taking into consideration the geologic characteristics of ...

ESTIMACIÓN DE LA PERMEABILIDAD RELATIVA BIFÁSICA A PARTIR DE LA SIMULACIÓN DE FLUJO DE FLUIDOS EN MICROGRAFÍAS DE ROCAS

open access: yesAvances en Ciencias e Ingeniería, 2022
In this work a methodology for estimation of two immiscible fluids relative permeability is presented for drainage and imbibition processes. Using a SEM image of rock samples, the pore network is identified and CFD routines are implemented along the ...

Theoretical studies of Cerro Prieto brines' chemical equilibria [PDF]

open access: yesGeothermics, 1981
A chemical equilibrium model is used, implemented in a compact FORTRAN package called HITEQ, to investigate possible mineral deposition related to prereinjection treatment of Cerro Prieto brines for silica removal. Large saturation ratios of the treated brines with respect to several minerals are indicated by these computations.

Cerro prieto and its relation to the gulf of California spreading centers

open access: yesCiencias Marinas, 1996
The Cerro Prieto geothermal field is located in the Mexicali Valley, Baja California. Tectonically, this northern part of the Gulf of California has been classified as a spreading center, within a transitional area of oceanic to continental conditions ...

Numerical modeling of high-temperature deep wells in the Cerro Prieto geothermal field, Mexico [PDF]

open access: yesGeofísica Internacional, 1999
A numerical modeling study of three non-producing deep geothermal wells from Cerro Prieto is presented. We compute the expected production characteristics of these wells in order to determine if their inability to sustain flow was due to (i) heat loss ...

MODELO SEMI-EMPÍRICO PARA DETERMINAR LA VISCOSIDAD APARENTE DE UNA ESPUMA QUE FLUYE A TRAVÉS DE UNA FRACTURA

open access: yesAvances en Ciencias e Ingeniería, 2022
This work proposes a semi-empirical model to determine the apparent viscosity of a foam flowing through a fracture, as a function of the foam quality and fracture width. Based on laboratory experiments, it was found that the shear stress presented by the
