Predictive Factors of Free Flap Volume Evolution in Head and Neck Reconstruction

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective The aim of our study was to determine the factors influencing the evolution of the total volume and bone volume of free flaps commonly used in head and neck surgery, with a 30‐month prospective study, to establish volume change predictions and thus propose a degree of overcorrection to be expected before reconstruction.

The 10% Rule in Sentinel Node Biopsy: Is Removal of All Threshold Nodes Necessary?

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) procedures have been guided by the “10% rule,” which stipulates that any lymph node (LN) with gamma probe activity (GPA) measured at 10% of the most radioactive sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs) should be excised.

Circulating Tumor Tissue‐Modified‐Viral HPV DNA and Correlations With Disease Burden in Oropharyngeal Cancer

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Tumor‐tissue modified viral (TTMV)‐human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA is an increasingly utilized biomarker for patients with HPV‐mediated oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC). However, much remains to be studied regarding the quantitative importance of a positive pre‐treatment result and correlations with disease burden ...
