Impact of Circular Stapler Size on Short‐Term Outcomes and Long‐Term Quality of Life After McKeown Esophagectomy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
In this study, we investigated the impact of circular stapler size on both short‐term outcomes and long‐term QOL after McKeown esophagectomy. We revealed that short‐term outcomes, including anastomotic leakage and stenosis, did not differ between patients who underwent anastomosis with a 21 mm stapler and those with a 23 mm stapler.

Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy for Esophageal Cancer: Current Evidence and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Esophageal cancer is a highly aggressive malignancy with regional variations in histological subtypes. Adenocarcinoma predominates in Western countries, whereas squamous cell carcinoma is more common in Asia. Despite advances in multimodal therapy, esophagectomy remains the cornerstone of curative treatment, and the development of various ...

Exercise and Nutrition Prehabilitation Program During Preoperative Chemotherapy Followed by Esophagectomy in Older Patients With Esophageal Cancer: A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This prospective randomized trial evaluated whether prehabilitation, exercise and nutrition intervention, enhance skeletal muscle mass during neoadjuvant chemotherapy in older patients with esophageal cancer undergoing esophagectomy. We also investigated whether exercise alone was sufficient to increase skeletal muscle mass, and whether nutritional ...

Edge Information‐Augmented Auxiliary Diagnosis Method for Cervical Cancer in Medical Decision‐Making Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
To address the problems of insufficient utilization of multiscale features and inefficient feature sharing between tasks in the model, this study proposes an edge‐enhanced intelligent cervical cancer screening method that achieves feature reuse and improves efficiency by jointly optimizing nucleolus segmentation and lesion classification.

Dual‐Scale Transformer Fusion With Meta Learning for Micro Metastasis Detection in Thyroid Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A dual‐scale transformer model enhanced by meta‐learning enables accurate detection of tiny metastatic lesions in thyroid cancer. By combining cellular and tissue‐level features, the method outperforms existing models and shows strong adaptability to rare cases with limited data.
