Abstract A patient with hemangioma of the uterine cervix diagnosed clinically because of its gross appearance was subjected to vaginal hysterectomy for associated pathologic lesions. Microscopic examination of the cervix revealed a cavernbus hemangioma involving chiefly the portio vaginalis. portio vaginalis.

Seventy carcinomas in situ found among 285 malignant lesions of the cervix were treated by vaginal or abdominal hysterectomy, preserving the ovaries. Invasive cervical carcinoma and five-year results of primary surgery are considered. The incidence of metastasis to lymph nodes with and without preoperative irradiation is reported.
