Microinvasive cervix cancer (Stage Ia) is the earliest stage of squamous carcinoma, and has a 98% 5-year survival. This article reviews risk factors, etiology, and diagnosis of this disease. The important prognostic factors for treatment planning are depth of invasion, lateral extent of invasive tumor, and lymphvascular space invasion.

SMALL CELL CANCER OF THE CERVIX
Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey, 1964Abstract Of 1,035 cases of Grades III and IV carcinoma of the cervix reviewed, 148 (14.3 per cent) were small cell carcinoma. Analysis of results of various methods of treatment in these cases suggests that identification of the cell type offered no advantage in selecting the type of treatment for cancer of the cervix.
