Deep Phenotyping of Pathology‐Confirmed Benign Lesions in PTEN Hamartoma Tumor Syndrome Patients

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
Gastrointestinal, skin, thyroid, and vascular lesions are frequently present in PTEN Hamartoma Tumor Syndrome patients with little to no difference between sexes or by index status. Early‐onset lipomas (< 20 years) may be useful for early recognition of patients, and uterine polyps should be considered for inclusion as a PHTS‐related lesion.

Lactate and Lactylation in AKI‐to‐CKD: Epigenetic Regulation and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Lactate is not only a byproduct of glycolysis, but is also considered an energy source, gluconeogenic precursor, signalling molecule and protein modifier during the process of cellular metabolism. The discovery of lactylation reveals the multifaceted functions of lactate in cellular metabolism and opens new avenues for lactate‐related research.

Ultrasound fundamentals and their clinical implications for interventional cytopathologists

open access: yesCytopathology, EarlyView.
Interventional cytopathologists need to know about ultrasound physics and instrumentation to produce an image that faithfully recreates the lesion discovered by the sonographer and diagnosed by the radiologist. A deep quantitative understanding of physics is not required.

Association between diabetes self‐management education attendance, hospital admissions and mortality in type 2 diabetes: A cohort analysis protocol

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 27, Issue 5, Page 2377-2386, May 2025.
Abstract Introduction Type 2 diabetes is associated with excess hospital admissions and increased mortality. Structured diabetes self‐management education (DSME) is recommended internationally and is associated with improved self‐management skills, well‐being and minor improvements in glycated haemoglobin (HBA1c), but does it reduce hospital admissions

Fungal endometritis associated with embryonic loss in a maiden mare

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, EarlyView.
Summary Fungal endometritis and placentitis have been reported as a rare but important cause of infertility in the mare. There are no reported clinical cases of fungal endometritis causing embryonic loss in the mare. This case report aims to highlight the potential of fungal endometritis as an aetiological agent in embryonic loss in the mare; an ...
