Crystallographic control on lithium isotope fractionation in Archean to Cenozoic lithium-cesium-tantalum pegmatites

open access: yes, 2016
The age distribution of lithium-cesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatites largely overlaps with major phases of collisional orogenic events and assembly of supercontinents.

Silicified Wood‐Inspired, High‐Strength Fire‐Resistant Chitin‐Based Aerogels for Sustainable High‐Temperature Thermal Insulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by natural silicified wood, a biomimetic mineralized chitin‐derived aerogel is constructed. It can withstand 81 000 times its own weight, and its backside temperature is 130.4°C after exposure to ∼1300°C butane flame for 600 s, exhibiting high‐strength, fire‐resistance, and super thermal‐insulation properties.

Homogenous FACsPbI3 Perovskite Solar Cells Enabled by a Seed‐Facilitated Cation Exchange Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel seed‐facilitated cation exchange strategy is designed for homogenous FACsPbI3 perovskites using the biomass‐derived solvent γ‐valerolactone. Pre‐deposited 0D Cs4PbI6 seeds induce rapid nucleation and efficient cation exchange, producing a uniform FA–Cs distribution and significantly reducing defect density, enabling high‐performance and stable ...

Formation of Quasi‐Decoupling Interface on Li‐Metal Anodes in High Donor Electrolyte

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Li‐metal anode (LMA) is stabilized by introducing Li2Te2 as an electrolyte additive for Li‐metal batteries. Upon contact with Li, Li2Te2 spontaneously converts to Li2Te, which electronically isolates Li from dimethyl sulfoxide due to its large bandgap and minimal Bader charge transfer.

Behavior of cesium implanted in zirconia based inert matrix fuel

open access: yes, 1999
Retention of cesium in yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) was studied experimentally and discussed on the basis of its solubility estimated on a thermodynamic basis.

Residual‐Lithium‐to‐LiF Conversion Enables a LiF–Fluorinated Carbon Interphase for Reconstruction‐Resistant Ni‐Rich Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fluorine‐rich acrylate monomer (PFHEA) was solvent‐free applied to NCM90 and thermally decomposed under Ar to convert residual lithium into LiF and form a pre‐built LiF/fluorinated amorphous carbon (LiF/FC) interphase. The LiF/FC layer suppresses NiO rock‐salt reconstruction and microcrack propagation, lowers interfacial resistance, and improves Li ...

A practical cesium axial migration model for fast reactor fuel pins

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology
Cesium is a volatile fission product which plays a major role in the formation of gap-filling compounds and in the internal cladding corrosion in Fast Breeder Reactor fuel pins operating at elevated temperatures and high burnup.

The Effect of Cesium-123 on Cesium-137 Uptake by Tissues in the Laboratory Rat

open access: yes, 1968
The effects of stable cesium-133 on cesium-137 metabolism were studied to better define mechanisms of cesium transport and binding by rat tissues. The extent to which the hypothetical cesium transport system can be overloaded was examined by giving ...

Exploring Pb‐Chelation Chemistry in the Crystallization Dynamics of Halide Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A mechanism of how Pb‐chelation chemistry governs coordination geometry and initial nucleation behavior at the precursor level of halide perovskite, by regulating the deprotonation state of a chelating additive, is elucidated. This allows for innovative reaction‐system design principles that promote coherent growth while suppressing defect formation in
