Brazilian clays for environmental solutions applied to radioactive waste management

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Radiation Sciences, 2021
Clays have been adopted in most nuclear waste producing countries as a key constituent in engineered barrier systems for final disposal facilities at all levels of radioactive wastes (LILW-SL, LILW-LL, and HLW).

Calculation of Radiative Corrections to E1 matrix elements in the Neutral Alkalis

open access: yes, 2004
Radiative corrections to E1 matrix elements for ns-np transitions in the alkali metal atoms lithium through francium are evaluated. They are found to be small for the lighter alkalis but significantly larger for the heavier alkalis, and in the case of ...

Controlling the cold collision shift in high precision atomic interferometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We present here a new method based on a transfer of population by adiabatic passage that allows to prepare cold atomic samples with a well defined ratio of atomic density and atom number. This method is used to perform a measurement of the cold collision

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Lead-free Cesium Europium Halide Perovskite Nanocrystals.

open access: yesNano letters (Print), 2020
Due to the toxicity of lead, searching for a lead-free halide perovskite semiconducting material with comparable optical and electronic properties is of great interest. Rare-earth based halide perovskite represents a promising class of materials for this

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Atomic parity violation in cesium and implications for the 3 - 3 - 1 models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The parity violation in cesium atom is analysed in the framework of the models based on the SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_N gauge group. It is shown that in the minimal version, the main contribution to a deviation of weak charge \Delta Q_W due to direct Z ...

Impact of a senior research thesis on students' perceptions of scientific inquiry in distinct student populations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study addressed how a senior research thesis is perceived by undergraduate students. It assessed students' perception of research skills, epistemological beliefs, and career goals in Biochemistry (science) and BDC (science‐business) students. Completing a thesis improved confidence in research skills, resilience, scientific identity, closed gender‐
