Carbohydrate Metabolism in Hymenolepis (Cestoda)

The Journal of Parasitology, 1967
Glycogenesis and glucose uptake of Hymenolepis diminuta and H. citelli are stimulated by 5% carbon dioxide but less stimulated by 20% carbon dioxide. The stimulatory effect occurs aerobically and anaerobically with H. diminuta. Oxygen (air) has no significant effect on glycogenesis, glucose uptake, or incorporation of glucose-14C into glycogen in H ...

Trypsin Adsorption by Hymenolepis diminuta (Cestoda)

The Journal of Parasitology, 1980
Significant amounts of radioactivity were associated with Hymenolepis diminuta following incubation in 3H-trypsin. Autoradiography of worms incubated in 3H-trypsin for 30 min demonstrated that all radioactivity was associated with the worm's surface (tegument).

A Surface Enzyme in Hymenolepis diminuta (Cestoda)

The Journal of Parasitology, 1970
Hymenolepis diminuta is virtually impermeable to "C-fructose or "C-fructose diphosphate. The intact worm hydrolyzes fructose diphosphate (HDP) and barium-soluble fructose is liberated in the external medium. Rate of hydrolysis increases with increasing substrate concentration up to 2 mM, above which concentration substrate inhibition occurs.

Observations on the lipids ofOochoristica agamae (Cestoda)

Parasitology Research, 1989
An investigation of the lipids of Oochoristica agamae, an anoplocephalid cestode of the Agama lizard, was undertaken. Total lipids of the parasite accounted for 8.4% of the fresh weight; neutral lipids comprised 82.98% of the total, glycolipids, 5.01%, and phospholipids, 12.03%. The major lipid classes in O.

Prolonged selfing in Hymenolepis microstoma (Cestoda)

Experimental Parasitology, 1971
Abstract A single cysticercoid of Hymenolepis microstoma, the mouse bile duct tapeworm, was fed via stomach tube to an HA/ICR strain albino mouse. After 20 days, gravid proglottids of the resulting adult worm (parental, or P generation) were fed to flour beetles, Tribolium confusum; 30 days later, one F1 cysticercoid from the beetles was fed to each ...

Clase Cestoda

2017

The karyotype of Eubothrium rugosum (Cestoda: Pseudophyllidea)

International Journal for Parasitology, 1991
The diploid chromosome set of Eubothrium rugosum contains 16 elements. The karyotype consists of three pairs of metacentric, three pairs of acrocentric and two pairs of submeta-metacentric chromosomes. Their mean absolute length ranges from 2.20 to 8.80 microns.
