Cestode Infections of Man

1986
In experimental work directed toward the development of new effective anthelmintics, the cestodes have received far less attention than have the trematodes and nematodes. This may be partly because cestode infections are generally considered of minor importance compared with the much more numerous and pathogenic parasites of the other helminth classes.

[Imidazoles in larval cestode infections].

Pathologie-biologie, 1984
The authors report the evaluation of therapeutic efficiency of imidazole derivatives (flubendazole and mebendazole) against human larval cestoda. 31 patients were treated: 28 had hydatid cysts, 2 had alveolar echinococcosis, and 1 had cerebral cysticercosis. Results after several months follow-up (up to 6 years) show an arrest in development of lesions

[Cestode infection of Antarctic seals].

Parazitologiia, 1997
A helminthological material from 5 seal species (361 specimens) captured in the Pacific sector of Antarctica was examined. The host-parasite associations of cestodes, peculiarities of their locations, extensive and intensive infection rate were studied. Parasitological data are compared with the data on a host feeding.

Cestode Infections of Domestic Animals

1986
The development of cestocidal compounds has generally been neglected. Cobbold (1872) in a series of lectures to medical students gave the most important remedies as male fern, kousso, kamala, turpentine, pumpkin seeds, and pomegranate root bark. Powdered areca nut was acknowledged to be of value but lost strength quickly after crushing.
