A diverse reagent‐associated virome, including parvoviruses, misleads zoonotic surveillance. By leveraging large language models (ChatGPT‐4o), we construct a virus discovery data framework (PVDDC) and ParvoDB to access and correct host misattributions, thereby enhancing the accuracy of metagenomic surveillance for emerging zoonotic diseases.

Wild animals are infected with a large diversity and abundance of parasites that can affect their behavior, growth, body condition, and ultimately their survival. Although the adverse effects of parasites and the mechanisms involved in the interactions between a host and its parasites are generally well studied, much less is known about the additive or

E. granulosus is a cestode that causes Cystic Echinococcosis (CE), a zoonotic disease with worldwide presence. The immune response generated by the host against the metacestode induces a permissive Th2 response, as opposed to pro-inflammatory Th1 ...

Black grouse Lyrurus tetrix declines continue throughout much of temperate Europe, following habitat loss and population isolation, associated with reduced productivity. In northern England, only 1437 lekking males remained in 2014, genetically isolated from other UK populations, and typified by low productivity but high adult survival.

Mixed cestode infection: an incidental association in an immunocompetent person [PDF]
EchinococcusandTaeniainfection are the two most relevant forms of cestode infection in humans. These infections occur worldwide, but with higher prevalence in developing countries like India, where poor hygiene facilitates their transmission. We report a case of a middle-aged man who presented with seizures and was found to have dual worm infection ...

Applications of Laparoscopic Techniques in Wildlife 腹腔镜技术在野生动物中的应用
In wildlife conservation, we have compiled the applications of laparoscopy, summarized into four areas. First, laparoscopy provides a reliable protocol for sex identification in wild species lacking apparent sexual dimorphism. Second, reproductive management with the involvement of laparoscopy is instrumental in maintaining and restoring species ...

Mello and Campos (1974) method adapted for the recovery of cestodes in birds ( Gallus domesticus )
: The specific diagnosis and evaluation of the intensity of avian helminth infections are essential for efficacy studies and the determination of drug doses targeted to their control. This study evaluated the Mello and Campos method, originally described

Using fecal DNA metabarcoding to investigate the animal diet of black rails, yellow rails, and soras
We used fecal DNA metabarcoding to investigate the diet of yellow rails, Eastern black rails, and sora during the non‐breeding season. Arthropods, particularly ants, were prevalent in their diets, suggesting possible interactions with invasive red imported fire ants.
