Modelling cetrimonium micelles as 4-OH cinnamate carriers targeting a hydrated iron oxide surface

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2022
Molecular interactions between 4-OH-cinnamate and cetrimonium in solution result in improved adsorption of the cinnamate on mild steel, developing a protective mechanism against the diffusion of corrosive chloride to the oxide surface. Fundamental understanding of this mechanism should allow new design routes for the development of eco-friendly ...

Cetrimonium Surfactants with Biologically Active Counter Ions as Self-Immolative Drug Delivery Systems

Science Letters, 2022
Novel derivatives of cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) possessing anions of ibuprofen and naproxen as hydrophobic counterions were synthesized and characterized using Fourier transform infrared and differential electronic absorption spectroscopy.

Equilibrium Penetration of Monolayers VI: Cholesterol-Cetrimonium Bromide System

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1978
Equilibrium surface pressure-area isotherms for the penetration of cholesterol monolayers by the surfactant cetrimonium bromide are presented. From these isotherms, the saturation adsorptions of surfactant for various surface concentrations of cholesterol were calculated.

Identifying biodegradation pathways of cetrimonium bromide (CTAB) using metagenome, metatranscriptome, and metabolome tri-omics integration

Water Research, 2023
Traditional research on biodegradation of emerging organic pollutants involves slow and labor-intensive experimentation. Currently, fast-developing metagenome, metatranscriptome, and metabolome technologies promise to expedite mechanistic research on biodegradation of emerging organic pollutants.

Influence of Cetrimonium Bromide on Base-Catalyzed Hydrolysis of p-Substituded Ethyl Benzoates

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1974
The effect of cetrimonium bromide at a concentration above its CMC on the base-catalyzed hydrolysis of eight p-substituted ethyl benzoates was investigated. The p-substituents were chosen on the basis of their Hammett substituent constants and included nitro, cyano, acetyl, fluoro, hydrogen, methoxy, amino, and dimethylamino.

Effects of Selected Metal Chlorides on the Micellization Parameters of Cetrimonium Bromide at Different Temperatures

Journal of the chemical society of pakistan, 2022
The pre-modification of surfactant counterions using transition metal salts provides a means to activate the interface using corresponding properties of metal ions. In this work, a cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) was modified by pre-mixing metal chlorides (FeCl3, CuCl2 and ZnCl2) and CTAB in 1:1 molar ratio using methanol as ...

Development and validation of RP–HPLC method for cetrimonium bromide and lidocaine determination

Il Farmaco, 2005
The simple and rapid RP-HPLC method, for the simultaneous determination of lidocaine and cetrimonium bromide in the presence of pellet color corrigent, was developed. Separations were performed on a Beckman Ultrasphere ODS 4.6 mm x 15 cm, 5 microm particle column at 40 degrees C.

Relaxation phenomenon and relaxivity of cetrimonium bromide (CTAB) coated CoFe2O4 nanoplatelets

Physica B: Condensed Matter, 2018
Abstract CTAB coated CoFe2O4 samples were synthesized by hydrothermal method at 60 °C (CT-60) and 120 °C (CT-120) respectively. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and magnetic measurements exhibits the strong corelation between structural and magnetic properties.

Cetrimonium Nalidixate as a Multifunctional Inhibitor to Combat Biofilm Formation and Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion

Australian Journal of Chemistry, 2013
Microbial infection of surfaces and the formation of biofilms is a pervasive problem that appears in diverse fields from medical implants to corrosion of marine structures. We show here, for the first time, the multifunctional inhibitory effects of an environmentally friendly organic salt, cetrimonium nalidixate, a dual active compound based on ...

Cetrimonium bromide promotes the clearance of lipids by activating the TFEB-mediated autophagosome–lysosome pathway in hepatic cells

Biochemistry and Cell Biology, 2021
Autophagy plays a key role in the metabolism of macromolecules via the degradative abilities of the lysosome. Transcription factor EB (TFEB) regulates autophagosome biogenesis and lysosome function, and promoting TFEB activity has emerged as a potential strategy for the treatment of metabolic disorders. Herein, we report that cetrimonium bromide (CTAB;
