Binding of dyes to hydroxyapatite treated with cetylpyridinium chloride or cetrimonium bromide
European Journal of Oral Sciences, 1978abstract— The effect of cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) and cetrimonium bromide (CTAB) on the adsorption of some acidic food dyes to hydroxyapatite was studied. The dyes investigated were brilliant blue (FD&C Blue No. I), tartrazine (FD&C Yellow No. 5), sunset yellow (FD&C Yellow No. 6) and amaranth (FD&C Red No. 2).

Two kinetic models are derived to explain the time-dependent effects of cetrimonium ions injected beneath an air-aqueous solution interface without any previously adsorbed or spread monolayer at different ionic strengths. The data show excellent fit and consistency with a nulticompartmental kinetic model which postulates a barrier or intermediate ...

The Comparative Effect of Chlorhexidine and Cetrimonium Bromide on Erythrocyte Membranes
Acta Pharmacologica et Toxicologica, 1976AbstractThe effect of chlorhexidine (Chx) and cetrimonium bromide (Ctab) on the haemolysis of erythrocytes has been studied. A concentration dependent release of haemoglobin was observed in isotonic media, with total haemolysis at 80 nmol Chx per 107cells and 20 nmol Ctab per 107cells.

Cetrimonium Bromide, Cetrimonium Chloride, and Steartrimonium Chloride are quaternary ammonium salts used for a variety of purposes in cosmetics at concentrations of up to 10%. Cetrimonium Bromide given orally is poorly absorbed from the intestine and is excreted in feces. Cetrimonium Bromide applied dermally is absorbed into the skin, but not rapidly.

We compared a new cetrimonium bromide (CTAB) subunit vaccine with a conventional polysorbate (Tween)-ether split-product vaccine in 63 children and young adults. The vaccines each contained influenza A/Bangkok/79, A/Brazil/78, B/Singapore/79; two doses were given one month apart. Among persons initially seronegative for A/Bangkok/79, the geometric mean
