Seasonal and Interannual Variability of Antarctic Bottom Water Downstream of the Four Key Formation Regions

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Antarctic Bottom Water (AABW) is a cold, dense water mass formed around Antarctica that ventilates the global abyssal ocean. Recent studies have reported widespread warming, freshening, and thinning of AABW, yet its temporal variability remains poorly constrained because of sparse observations.

Atmospheric Constituent Data Assimilation in NASA's Goddard Earth Observing System

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Many of today's most significant and urgent scientific questions, including those about the impact of human activity on air quality and radiative forcing, require the synthesis of observations of atmospheric constituents and scientific theory.

Quantifying Nurse and Physician Clinical Performance for Mechanically Ventilated Patients

open access: yesHealth Services Research, Volume 61, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Expanding on previous research applying value‐added modeling to clinician performance measurement, we quantified simultaneous nurse and physician performance among mechanically ventilated patients. Study Setting and Design In a retrospective cohort spanning five academic hospitals, we used multiple linear regression to determine ...

Comparative 30‐day life cycle assessment of bladder drainage strategies

open access: yesBJU International, Volume 138, Issue 2, Page 285-296, August 2026.
Objective To identify the most environmentally sustainable urinary drainage strategies commonly used to manage bladder outlet obstruction and also to highlight actionable levers for reducing the footprint of urinary drainage in clinical practice. Materials and Methods We conducted a comparative life cycle assessment of three urinary drainage strategies

On Making Informed Decisions Regarding Clustering Event Logs in Process Discovery

open access: yesExpert Systems, Volume 43, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Process discovery is intended to machine‐learn process models by analysing event logs that record how real processes work. The resulting models tend to be complex because they must account for all the variability in the event logs. It is agreed that clustering the input event log prior to discovery may result in better models.
