Experimental Study on the Melting of Hydrogen‐Reduced Iron Ore Pellets in Electric Arc Furnace‐Type Slags

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
To realize fossil‐free steelmaking using hydrogen direct reduced iron (H‐DRI), melting operations must be fully understood and thereafter efficiently implemented. Lab‐scale experiments investigating melting progression of H‐DRI are combined with results from pilot‐scale electric‐arc furnace trials.

Heat Transfer Characteristics of Novel Resin Impregnated Paper Converter Transformer Valve‐Side Bushing With Two‐Phase Closed Thermosyphon

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Resin impregnated paper (RIP) converter transformer valve‐side bushings are the key equipment in converter stations. Local overheating of the RIP core not only reduces the transmission efficiency but also causes insulation failure of converter transformers.

Dynamic Thermal Modelling for Core‐Type High‐Frequency Transformers Based on Air‐Solid Surface Nusselt Number Calibration

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Quickly and accurately obtaining the internal temperature distribution of a transformer plays a key role in predicting its operating conditions and simplifying the maintenance process. A reasonable equivalent thermal circuit model is a relatively reliable method of obtaining the internal temperature distribution.

The crucial role of meshing in computational fluid dynamics simulations for organic geometries in paleobiology: Describing fluid dynamics performance through best practices

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, EarlyView.
Abstract Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has become an essential tool for studying fluid interactions in biological systems. While widely used in engineering, its application in the natural sciences, particularly in paleobiology, remains limited due to the challenges of meshing complex organic geometries.
