Numerical Investigation of Methane Transport Within and Around Evolving Cracks

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A validated model shows that natural gas leakage induces soil deformation and forms three key cracks. When diffusion is low, methane moves mainly along the primary crack, demonstrating how natural fractures reshape pathways and significantly enhance methane migration.

Evaluation of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for Modeling UV-Initiated Advanced Oxidation Processes

open access: yes, 2009
The use of ultraviolet-initiated (UV-initiated) advanced oxidation processes (AOP) is rapidly becoming an attractive alternative for the degradation of emerging organic contaminants that are not easily removed using conventional water treatment processes.

Influence of Structural and Environmental Parameters on Solar Air Collector Performance

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Increasing air gap depth and mass flow rate significantly enhances the thermal performance of solar air collectors, with optimal performance achieved at an 8.5 cm air gap and 0.01318 kg/s mass flow rate. Air gap depth is identified as the dominant factor influencing system efficiency.

Performance Optimization Of Screw Compressors Based On Numerical Investigation Of The Flow Behaviour In The Discharge Chamber

open access: yes, 2012
In the field of screw compressors, although the basic operation of such flow systems is well known and the analytical methods for their performance prediction are well established, only few attempts of investigating the flow in screw compressors by means

Forced Draught Impact on Externally Venting Flames: An Experimental and Numerical Investigation

open access: yesFire and Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Wind can significantly influence fire development and spread in urban and forest environments causing fatal consequences for the public, the first responders, and the environment. Wind‐driven fires can have a significant impact on structural fires as wind can increase the fire's intensity, development, and flame spread.
