RTM Simulations by CFD

2019
In this chapter, based on the rigorous theory of fluid flow through porous media and the computational fluid dynamic technique, different numerical approaches for description of air and resin flow in fibrous media will be presented. In the analyses, both fibrous media and fluids (resin and air) are considered to be incompressible.

A compact wall model for CFD simulations

2017 16th IEEE Intersociety Conference on Thermal and Thermomechanical Phenomena in Electronic Systems (ITherm), 2017
It is often necessary to model both internal and external walls in CFD simulations, especially at the room level. Actual walls are generally composed of multiple (thin) layers and may be exposed to solar irradiance. Modeling the wall construction explicitly can be tedious (because of complexities at wall intersections) and also problematic, as the ...

Simulation of VCEs by CFD modelling: an analysis of sensitivity

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 1998
The AutoReaGas code developed by TNO and Century Dynamics Ltd has been utilized to simulate the occurrence of a Vapour Cloud Explosion in a large fuel storage area. The sensitivity of the results to the main input variables has been investigated, together with the effect of fuel amount and fuel concentration inside the cloud.

CFD/CAA Simulations on HPC Systems

2016
In this paper, a highly scalable numerical method is presented that allows to compute the aerodynamic sound from a turbulent flow field on HPC systems. A hybrid CFD-CAA method is used to compute the flow and the acoustic field, in which the two solvers are running in parallel to avoid expensive I/O operations for the acoustic source terms.

CFD-Simulation von Schwergasausbreitungen

2019

One-Dimensional Simulation (1D-CFD-Simulation)

2011
The 1D-CFD-simulation can be seen as an extension of the cylinder real working-process analysis. The latter provides mainly the calculation of the working period of each cylinder (i.e. when the valves are closed) while the 1D-CFD-simulation analyzes the flow field in the whole intake and exhaust track, respectively. This approach can ensure an accurate

Three-Dimensional Simulation (3D-CFD Simulation)

2011
The three-dimensional simulation (3D-Computational-Fluid-Dynamics simulation) represents the most sophisticated approach for detailed numerical investigations on any thermo-fluiddynamical problem. This approach is based on the numerical solution of partial differential equations for conservation of mass, species concentration, momentum and energy over ...
