CFD/CAA Simulations on HPC Systems

2016
In this paper, a highly scalable numerical method is presented that allows to compute the aerodynamic sound from a turbulent flow field on HPC systems. A hybrid CFD-CAA method is used to compute the flow and the acoustic field, in which the two solvers are running in parallel to avoid expensive I/O operations for the acoustic source terms.

Three-Dimensional Simulation (3D-CFD Simulation)

2011
The three-dimensional simulation (3D-Computational-Fluid-Dynamics simulation) represents the most sophisticated approach for detailed numerical investigations on any thermo-fluiddynamical problem. This approach is based on the numerical solution of partial differential equations for conservation of mass, species concentration, momentum and energy over ...

Observations on CFD Simulation Uncertainties

9th AIAA/ISSMO Symposium on Multidisciplinary Analysis and Optimization, 2002
Dierent sources of uncertainty in CFD simulations are illustrated by a detailed study of 2-D, turbulent, transonic ow in a converging-diverging channel.

CFD simulation of pressure piling

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 2010
The explosion of flammable mixtures in interconnected compartments is commonly defined as "pressure piling" Peak pressures much higher than the predictable thermodynamic values are likely to be generated in this geometry, yielding the phenomenon of major interest in industrial safety.

Examples of Contemporary CFD Simulations

2002
This chapter is intended to convince the reader, through a number of relevant and diverse examples, that modern CFD with turbulence modelling is a practical tool for fast and accurate prediction of flow problems of engineering interest. A general introduction to modern CFD and a preface to the general-purpose CFD solver, CFD++, are followed by a ...
