Debonding of CFRP-to-steel joints with CFRP delamination

Composite Structures, 2016
Abstract Extensive experiments were conducted to investigate the bond characteristics of CFRP-to-steel joints on cohesive failure, which is considered as the ideal failure mode. In this present article, the main aim is to demonstrate the rationality of CFRP delamination and to provide a detailed understanding of bond characteristics on delamination ...

3D-reinforcement techniques for co-bonded CFRP/CFRP and CFRP/metal joints: a brief review

Ciência & Tecnologia dos Materiais, 2017
Abstract The present paper will make a brief review on some of the most relevant through-thickness reinforcement technologies for CFRP/Metal and CFRP/CFRP joints developed so far. A distinction between the traditional (“ z-pinning ” and “ stitching and tufting ”) and novel (“ COMELD TM ”, “ CMT ”, “ HYPER ” and “ RHEA ”) 3D-reinforcement ...

Process Speeds for Drilling and Reaming CFRP and CFRP/Metallic Stacks

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2011
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Drilling of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) components in aircraft production presents many challenges. Factors including layup material, layup process, layup orientation, hole tolerance, surface finish, delamination limits, and inspection methods result in a wide range ...

Some effects of moisture on adhesive-bonded CFRP-CFRP joints

Composite Structures, 1986
Abstract Investigations have been carried out into the effect of long-term exposure to a hot, humid environment on the strength and mode of failure of CFRP-CFRP joints bonded with structural epoxy adhesives. Strengths of joints have been shown to be reduced both by absorption of moisture and by increased test temperature. There is some evidence that,

A signal segmentation method for CFRP/CFRP stacks drilling-countersinking monitoring

Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, 2023
Carbon-fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRP) stacks are widely used in the aerospace industry owing to their superior mechanical properties and lightweight nature. In this industry, CFRP/CFRP stacks are often drilled and countersunk to create holes for assembly fasteners.

A Comparative Study of Carbide Tools in Drilling of CFRP and CFRP-Ti Stacks

ASME 2011 International Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference, Volume 1, 2011
A comparative study was conducted to investigate drilling of a titanium (Ti) plate stacked on a carbon fiber reinforced plastic panel. The effects on tool wear and hole quality in drilling using micrograin tungsten carbide (WC) tools were analyzed. The experiments were designed to first drill CFRP alone to create 20 holes.
